Using the PS3 as a Blu-Ray Player with Onkyo Home Theater and getting the Best Sound?
On a review of the Onkyo HTsr800 which I recently purchased it said. ...the HDMI jacks are video pass-through only ...they wont carry the audio signals from your disc player... The latter option running six or eight cables to the analog inputs is your only option for getting the best sound from Blu-ray players. Of course you'll need to make sure your player has analog audio outputs and can decode the Dolby Digital Plus, Dolby True HD, and DTS-HD soundtracks found on HD movie discs. Not all of them do.
Can I use the PS3 and get the best sound throught the Onkyo. Answer as low tech as possible.
to get true hd you cannot use ps3 with just a hdmi pass through connection. It has to be a hdmi 1.3 capable.
your best option as far as sound is to use the multi-channel analog inputs on rear of receiver, and the ps3 doesnt have them. try reserching panasonic for a bd player with the 5.1 analog output.7.1 output is a little harder to find.
me personally use the ps3 with optical
